It opened in&nbsp;<strong>1963<\/strong>&nbsp;in the far northeast corner of the park.&nbsp; Boomtown was themed as a typical Texas oil field town during the oil boom of the 1890&#8217;s and 1900&#8217;s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/parktimes.com\/sections\/boomtown\/boomtown.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/parktimes.com\/sections\/boomtown\/boomtown.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The Boomtown station house opened with Boomtown, allowing the <a href=\"https:\/\/parktimes.com\/ptsarticles\/sections\/texas\/railroad\/\">Six Flags Railroad<\/a>&nbsp;to begin dropping passengers off on the far side of the park. Prior to opening of Boomtown, the Railroad ran nonstop round trips only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The<a href=\"https:\/\/parktimes.com\/ptsarticles\/sections\/frontgate-mall\/carousel\/\"> Six Flags Carousel<\/a>\u00a0and the<a href=\"https:\/\/parktimes.com\/ptsarticles\/sections\/boomtown\/the-sky-hook\/\"> <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/parktimes.com\/ptsarticles\/welcome\/sections\/boomtown\/sky-hook\/\">Sky Hook<\/a>\u00a0were other original boomtown attraction.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In\u00a0<strong>1964<\/strong>, the\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/parktimes.com\/ptsarticles\/welcome\/sections\/boomtown\/canoes\/\">Caddo War Canoes<\/a>\u00a0were moved from the Confederacy to <a href=\"https:\/\/parktimes.com\/ptsarticles\/welcome\/sections\/boomtown\/\">Boomtown<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In\u00a0<strong>1966<\/strong>, the park&#8217;s first major roller coaster, the<a href=\"https:\/\/parktimes.com\/ptsarticles\/welcome\/sections\/boomtown\/mine-train\/\"> Runaway Mine Train<\/a>\u00a0was added in the boomtown section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 At the end of the\u00a0<strong>1968<\/strong>\u00a0session, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/parktimes.com\/ptsarticles\/welcome\/sections\/boomtown\/sky-hook\/\">Sky Hook<\/a>\u00a0was removed.\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/parktimes.com\/ptsarticles\/welcome\/sections\/boomtown\/minimine\/\">Mini Mine Train<\/a>\u00a0opened the next season, in approximately the same location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In\u00a0<strong>1972,\u00a0<\/strong>a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/parktimes.com\/ptsarticles\/welcome\/sections\/boomtown\/model\/\">Miniature Six Flags Model<\/a>\u00a0opened in the Texas Travel Exhibit. At the end of that season, the Boomtown station was removed and replaced with the Good Times Square Station on the opposite side of the tracks.
